Raw, David 1780

In the name of God Amen I David Raw of Redmire in the parish of Wensley in the County of York Yeoman, Do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say, To my dear wife Sarah Raw I give devise and bequeath, All that my messuage or Dwelling House with the stable Outbuildings Garden and Apprutenances thereunto belonging situate in Redmire aforesaid, and also all and singular my Goods Chattles, Farm, Money and Securities for money, and all other my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (except my wearing Apparel) To Hold the same unto my said dear wife Sarah Raw and her Assigns during the Term of her natural life, in case she shall so long continue my widow and unmarryed, but no longer nor otherwise, Upon the Trust nevertheless and for the purposes hereinafter expressed, that is to say, Upon Trust in the first place out of my personal estate hereinafter bequeathed to her, to pay all my just debts and funeral expences and the Charges of proving this my will, and after payment thereof to cause and procure a just Inventory or Schedule of my remaining personal estate to be immediately made, and lodged with my Executors hereafter named for the Benefit and Inspection of such persons as shall be interested under this my Will, and after such Schedule is compleated, as to the Interest Benefit and Profits of my said personal estate and the use and Occupation of my said Dwelling House Outbuildings with the stable Garden and
Appurtenances belonging thereto, from the time of my decease, to the sole and proper enjoyment and Behoof of my said wife, and her assigns, during her natural life, if she so long continue my Widow, but no longer, and not otherwise, And from and immediately after the Death or marriage of my said wife (which shall first happen) then as to the said Dwelling House Outbuildings with the stable Garden and Appurtenances thereunto belonging, I give and devise the same to my son John Raw his Heirs and Assigns, to hold to him his Heirs and assigns for ever. And as to my remaining personal estate hereinbefore bequeathed; from and after the death or marriage of my said wife, I give thereout to my Grandson Davis, son of Robert Raw, fifteen Pounds, and to my Grandson Davis son of Davis Raw five pounds, And after payment thereof I give and bequeath All the Residue and Remainder of my personal Estate (Except my wearing Apparel) to my sons Robert, Davis and Esiah Raw, To Hold the same to my said three sons their executors administrators and assigns absolutely for ever share and share alike and as tenants in common. To my son Robert Raw I give all my wearing apparel for his own proper use, Provided that if my wife marry again, then all her Interest and Benefit under this my Will shall from thenceforth totally cease, Provided also that if she continue my widow and the
produce and income of my real and personal estates shall be insufficient for her necessary support, then and in that case, but not otherwise, it shall be lawful for my said wife to take much out of the principal of my said personal estate, as shall be absolutely necessary for her maintenance, Provided also that my said son Esiah, may have the Loan of Twenty Pounds out of my personal estate, one giving good Security to my executors to repay the same with Interest or to account for the same as a part of his proportion of my said personal estate, when he shall become entitled thereto. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said dear wife Sarah Raw and my said son John Raw joint executors of this my Will, and revoking all former Wills, I publish and declare this Instrument, contained in two sheets of paper, the first sheet whereof is signed with my name, and the last sheet whereof is signed with my name and sealed with my seal, to be my last will and testament this seventeenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty.
