‘In loving memory of Frances son of Richard & Margaret Metcalfe of Horrocks Fold born June 21st 1881 died March 6th 1886. Also Margaret the beloved wife of Richard Metcalfe, who died Feby 9th 1890 aged 45 years. Also the above Richard Metcalfe who died May 13th 1901 aged 71 years.
Though lost to sight to memory dear.’

Note: Though this monument states date of birth as June 21st 1881, birth certificate states June 22nd 1880. There is also discrepancy in the spelling of Francis/Frances between the birth certificate and this monument. The male version is usually spelled with an “i”.
The grave marker had fallen and was buried when we found it. This is the marker/grave number for anyone who would like to find it in the future. As far as we could tell, it was the only Metcalfe in the cemetery.
