{"id":570,"date":"2025-10-23T23:36:43","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T23:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metcalfegenealogy.com\/?p=570"},"modified":"2025-10-24T16:18:44","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T16:18:44","slug":"raw-robert-1814","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metcalfegenealogy.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/23\/raw-robert-1814\/","title":{"rendered":"Raw, Robert 1814"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the name of God Amen I <strong>Robert Raw of Carperby<\/strong> in the parish of Aisgarth in the County of York<br>Yeoman being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and<br>testament in manner following that is to say I give devise and bequeath unto my son <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metcalfegenealogy.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/24\/raw-robert-1854\/\">Robert Raw<\/a><\/strong> All<br>that messuage Tenement of dwelling house wherein the said Robert doth now dwell with the garth<br>garden buildings and appurtenances thereunto adjoining and belonging together with all that close or<br>parcel of ground commonly called Tb Croft or East Croft containing by estimation one acre be the<br>same more or less situate within the Township of Carperby aforesaid and lately purchased by me of<br><strong>James Shaw<\/strong>. To Hold the same unto my said son Robert Raw his Heirs and Assigns for ever I also<br>give devise and bequeath unto my son <strong>William Raw<\/strong> All that messuage tenement or dwelling House<br>wherein I now dwell (except the parlour therein which i do hereby devise &amp; give to my three<br>daughters <strong>Ann Hannah and Jane Raw<\/strong> whilst they or any of them shall remain unmarried but not<br>otherwise) with the Garth Garden Buildings and appurtenances thereunto adjoining and belonging<br>together with All that allotment on Carperby Moor containing by estimation eight acres be the same<br>more or less To Hold the same to my said son William Raw his heirs and Assigns for ever. I do give<br>and devise and bequeath All that Close or parcel of ground commonly called the Snab containing by<br>estimation Six Acres be the same more or less situate within the Township of Carperby aforesaid now<br>in my own Occupation unto my dear Wife <strong>Jane Raw<\/strong> for and during the Term of her natural Life and<br>from and immediately after her decease then I give and devise the said close or parcel of ground to my<br>said son Robert and William Raw their Heirs ad Assigns for ever to take as tenements in common and<br>not as joint tenants charged and chargeable nevertheless with the payment of the sum of One hundred<br>and twenty pounds apiece to my sons <strong>Joseph Raw<\/strong> and <strong>John Raw<\/strong> and also with the payment of the<br>sum of Ninety pounds apiece unto my three daughters Ann Raw Hannah Raw and Jane Raw All<br>which said Legacies or sums of Money it is my Will and mind shall be paid to them their executors<br>Administrators or Assigns respectively within twelve calendar months next after my wifes decease but<br>in case any person shall have to pay to <strong>John Drummond<\/strong> the sum of sixty pounds to whom I am bound<br>in a Bond to pay that sum in case my son Joseph Raw doth not duly serve his apprenticeship with the<br>said John Drummond then and in that case the said Joseph to be paid only the sum of sixty pounds. I<br>give and bequeath unto my two sons <strong>Nathan Raw<\/strong> and <strong>James Raw<\/strong> the sum of two Hundred pounds<br>equally between them to be paid to them the said Nathan and James respectively their respective<br>executors Administrators or Assigns within twelve calendar months next after my decease. I also give<br>and bequeath to All my Household goods and household furniture unto my said dear wife Jane for and<br>during her natural life and from and after her decease then I give and bequeath the same unto my said<br>three daughters Ann Hannah and Jane in equall shares and proportions.
